Bio

The Gold Coast’s very own Emotion Killer started as a project of vocalist and guitarist Shannon Loch around 2017. He had a collection of personal songs he had started writing when he was 15 years old, enduring high school bullying, heartbreak, alienation, violence, and a long period of sustained emotional suffering and depression. These songs became the basis of the new Tragic Life in a Modern World EP.

Shannon tracked all vocals, guitars and bass, while also producing and mixing the EP.
Alpha Wolf/I Shall Devour drummer Mitchell Fogarty was enlisted to play a sickening assortment of punishing blast beats, sick grooves, and blistering double bass in the studio.

The entire recording and mixing process lasted almost 2 years, with the EP featuring ambitious choir, string, and electronic arrangements amongst its blistering cuts of modern metal.
At the end of the process, the mixes were handed to Ermin Hamidovic of Systematic Productions (Periphery, Architects, Devin Townsend Project) for mastering.

Emotion Killer were planning an ambitious national tour of Australia when an global pandemic struck and forced the entire band into quarantine. Rising from the ashes, the band launched their long awaited EP at a triumphant headline event at Brisbane’s The Brightside.

They tied this in with their 3rd cutting edge music video for Dark Inside, an anti-bullying anthem.

Emotion Killer’s sound is forward thinking Modern Metal. The tracks are diverse, with bouncy riffs, heart-string pulling ballads, vicious slams and blast beats, circle pit inducing thrash, djenty breakdowns. The lyrics are honest and raw, with a delivery just as extreme as the music. Shannon will switch between ruthless, violent aggression and vulnerable melodies within the space of the same verse of a song.
This is music for the freaks, the rejects, those who don’t fit in. It’s for people who are angry, heartbroken, depressed, alone. You know if this music is right for you.

This is Emotion Killer.
